Other useful supplements include Selenium (200 mcg per day as l-selenomethionine), Ginkgo biloba extract (60 mg 2 times daily), Quercetin Plus (4-8 tablets daily), Omega Plus (2 caps 3 times daily), N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine [NAC] (1,000-2,000 mg daily), Melatonin (1/2 – 3 mg before bedtime), Mixed Natural Carotenes (1-2 caps daily), Rejuvenate!™ PLUS or Rejuvenate!™ Berries & Herbs (1-2 scoops daily), and Double Zinc Plus (1 tablet daily).
Consume a diet very low in fat and cholesterol (eat only lean meat, poultry and fish in the amount of 3-5 ounces per day) and high in fiber containing foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains (e.g., brown rice, spelt, kamut and whole wheat), beans, and nuts and seeds (sunflower, flax, pumpkin, walnut, almond, and sesame in small amounts (1 or 2 ounces daily) are good). Try eating Dr. Hank’s Vegetable Soup several times per week. Eat several servings of fresh berries (blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, etc.) on a daily basis. Avoid all sweets (sugar) and processed or refined foods (e.g.., white bread and pasta). Try not to eat the same thing every day. Symptoms can be caused by allergic reactions to the food you eat. Be observant to correlations between symptoms and the foods you have eaten.
Cleaning chemicals, inks, pesticides, inhalers, tobacco smoke, exhaust fumes, and other chemicals can be eye irritants as well as generate free radicals which can cause damage to the micro-vessels in the eye. Please drink non-chlorinated water. Make sure that you have excellent lighting conditions when reading and studying.
Make sure that you get adequate low-impact exercise on a daily basis. This can include walking up to four miles a day.
