PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Agaricus blazei is one of the most amazing medicinal mushrooms discovered. Modern research shows that the main medicinal properties of this mushroom are anti-tumor and immune enhancement. Each vegetarian capsule contains 500 mg of an organically-grown full-spectrum Agaricus blazei mushroom complex. Our manufacturer’s research shows that the best quality mushrooms, with by far the most Beta-glucan content, are grown indoors directly on organic grains (sorghum and millet). This determination is based both upon laboratory test results and the size and flavor of the mushrooms grown indoors. With indoor cultivation, it is possible to completely control the climatic conditions: temperature, humidity, air flow, CO2 levels, even the amount and quality of light and the lighting cycle itself. All of these parameters are set to develop the highest quality mushrooms. Typical total polysaccharides and beta-glucan content of this product are 77% and 33%, respectively.

APPLICATIONS: Agaricus blazei is an edible mushroom native to Brazil and cultivated in Japan and the USA for its medicinal uses. It has been used to treat arteriosclerosis, hepatitis, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, dermatitis, and cancer. In vitro experiments and studies done in mice have shown that Agaricus has immunomodulatory, antitumor, and antimutagenic properties. The polysaccharides and anti-angiogenic compounds present in Agaricus blazei are thought to be responsible for its antitumor properties. Such effects are believed to be exerted by immunopotentiation or direct inhibition of angiogenesis. Agaricus blazei was also shown to have antidiabetic effects in vitro and in animal studies. In addition, results from a study done in human subjects with type 2 diabetes suggest benefits of Agaricus extract in improving insulin resistance, and a pilot study indicates that Agaricus extract may reduce weight, BMI, body fat, and serum glucose and cholesterol levels in healthy individuals.

One of the most active ingredients that have been identified in Agaricus blazei is Beta-(1-3)-D-glucan, Beta-(1-4)-a-D-glucan & Beta-(1-6)-D-glucan. Known collectively as Beta-glucans, these substances are the most potent immuno-potentiating (immune enhancing) substances yet found. They have very powerful anti-tumor properties, even when used orally. Beta-glucans do not directly cause the anti-tumor effect, but rather they trigger the bodies' own anti-tumor response. For example, one study showed that when human subjects are given Agaricus Blazei in their diet, a 3000% increase of NK cell activity is seen in the blood within 2-4 days.
