ACETYL-L-CARNITINE
A Powerful Central Nervous System Enhancer
Also see: Acetyl-L-Carnitine Abstracts
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: ACETYL-L-CARNITINE (ALC) contains 500 mg of the highest-quality acetyl-l-carnitine in a gelatin capsule with a USP grade cellulose filler.
NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS & APPLICATIONS: ALC occurs naturally in the body, where plays a vital role in the transport of fats into mitochondria (the powerhouses of the cells) and assists in the production of acetylcholine—a key neurotransmitter. ALC is a highly effective nutritional adjunct in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and other diseases that affect CNS function, including age-related memory decline, depression, dysthmia, senility, cerebrovascular insufficiency, alcohol-induced cognitive impairment, and Down Syndrome. In addition, ALC may counter the aging process, which significantly reduces ALC's transport in the body. Numerous studies indicate that it may have an anti-aging function both in the brain and the body. While a majority of the research has focused on age-related conditions, studies using healthy young subjects show that ALC enhances normal CNS functioning. ALC is recommended as part of a daily health maintenance routine. It is contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
