PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: BLACK CURRANT OIL contains 500 mg of unrefined black currant oil extracted by cold pressing the highest-quality black currant seeds. Black Currant Oil is contained in a hermetically-sealed soft gelatin capsule.

NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS & APPLICATIONS: Black currant seed oil is one of the three known and readily available sources of the important omega-6 fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), typically containing 17 percent GLA. Unlike the other two commercially available sources of GLA (evening primrose oil (9 percent GLA) and borage oil (23 percent GLA)), black currant seed oil contains substantial amounts (13 percent) of the important omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid. Because both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential in human nutrition and omega-3 fatty acids are often lacking in the diet, black currant seed oil is the most economical and healthy choice as a GLA supplement.
