MIXED NATURAL CAROTENES is a powerful, synergistic blend of five natural carotenes. This unique formula contains beta-carotene and alpha-carotene from carrot oil, lycopene (a tomato extract from varieties of Lycopersicum esculentum), and lutein and zeaxanthin from marigold flowers (Calendula officinalis).

Beta-carotene and alpha-carotene are precursors to Vitamin A and potent antioxidants providing other protective functions in the body. Vitamin A is essential for many functions in the human body, including vision, growth, bone development, tooth development, maintenance of healthy epithelial tissues, protective effects against cancer, reproduction, and roles in coenzymes and hormones. Whereas Vitamin A may have toxic effects at high doses, beta-carotene (and other carotenoids) have no known toxicity. It is now known that there are a wide range of carotenes in fruits and vegetables providing free-radical protection to the body. For example, lycopene has been found to be a more potent free-radical trapper than beta-carotene and much research suggests that it provides powerful antioxidant protection to the body's tissues, including the eye, lung, prostate, cervix, and digestive tract. Lutein and zeaxanthin are known to be important for healthy eye function. Mixed Natural Carotenes contains all major carotenes normally found in fruits and vegetables.
