Flax Seed Oil

ORGANIC FLAX SEED OIL

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: ORGANIC FLAX SEED OIL is produced using certified 100% organic flax seeds. It is expeller pressed at a temperature of less than 100°F without solvents (such as hexane). The oil is protected during extraction from the damaging effects of light, heat, and oxygen. Flax Seed Oil liquid contains 20% flax particulates, including 11 mg of lignans per tablespoon. Current research indicates that lignans have important nutritive and preventive properties. The liquid is preserved using ascorbyl palmitate (the fat-soluble form of Vitamin C) and rosemary extract—natural preservatives providing a 1-year shelf life (when the oil is refrigerated) and maintaining its delicious nutty taste. The liquid is packaged in 12 oz black containers that prevent light from degrading the oil. Flax Seed Caps come in convenient 1,000 mg softgel caps (100 or 250 per bottle) containing neither particulates (i.e., non-high lignan) nor preservatives.

Flax Seed OilNUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS & APPLICATIONS: Omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids play important roles in the formation of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are important cellular regulators that control inflammatory processes in the body. Flax seed oil (which contains large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids and useful amounts of omega-6 fatty acids) may be a helpful adjunct in protocols for cardiovascular disease, hypertension, arthritis (and other inflammatory disorders), psoriasis (and other skin problems), cancer, diabetes, and kidney disease. Flax seed oil is best used on foods (e.g., salads) or taken by itself. Flax seed oil is not suitable as a cooking oil because it oxidizes at normal cooking temperatures.
