I3C PLUS contains the cancer fighting substances indole-3-carbinol and diindolylmethane, as well as betaine hydrochloride and ascorbic acid (which create the acidic conditions necessary for these cancer fighting substances to function optimally). I3C Plus contains no magnesium stearate and is suitable for hypersensitive individuals.

NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS & APPLICATIONS: Hundreds of research studies conducted over the last 25 years have clearly shown that indole-3-carbinol (I3C), a substance found in cruciferous vegetables (e.g., broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and brussels sprouts) has powerful abilities as a cancer fighter. Some of these studies have shown that I3C itself is very unstable and under the acid conditions found in the stomach breaks down into a number of metabolites that effectively fight cancer. According to the studies, diindolylmethane (DIM) is the most active and effective metabolite of I3C. Animal studies in which stomach acid conditions were bypassed indicate little effectiveness when I3C is taken by itself. I3C Plus thus includes betaine HCl (a form of hydrochloric acid) and ascorbic acid ensuring that the I3C will break down into a full range of metabolites. One of the major applications of I3C Plus is as a preventive for breast cancer. It has been shown that in this application I3C and its metabolites can cause the breakdown of estrogen into its 2-hydroxy form (a cancer preventer) rather than the 16-hydroxy form (a powerful cancer promoter). Some studies have shown that I3C and its metabolites can prevent the metastasis of breast cancer. Other studies have shown that I3C and its metabolites have non-estrogenic effects in the prevention of breast cancer. Multiple studies indicate that I3C and its metabolites can be used synergistically with tamoxifen to obtain a wider range of benefits and in some cases can be used to overcome multiple drug resistance (MDR). Other forms of cancer that I3C and its metabolites have been shown to prevent include: colon cancer, certain lung cancers, cancers caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) including cervical cancer, cancers caused by Aflatoxin B1 (a mold often found in food and responsible for liver cancers), and a wide range of cancers caused by xenoestrogenic pesticides (PCBs, DDT, atrazine, kepone, propoxur, etc.). Clinically effective dosages of I3C and its metabolites lie in the range of 300-500 mg daily.
