NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS AND APPLICATIONS

Ipriflavone is a non-hormonal, isoflavone derivative. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that ipriflavone represents a viable, effective alternative to estrogen for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Ipriflavone and its metabolites regulate the differentiation and biosynthetic properties of human bone-forming cells by enhancing the expression of some important bone matrix proteins and facilitating the mineralization process. Ipriflavone interferes with bone remodeling by inhibiting bone resorption and stimulating bone formation. Ipriflavone has a direct inhibitory effect on osteoclastic activity and promotes the production and activity of osteoblasts. Ipriflavone increases the total amount of calcium retained in bones and decreases mineral loss from bone due to deficiencies of calcium and Vitamin D. It is rapidly metabolized, quickly eliminated, and has no long-acting side effects. Most clinical studies use an ipriflavone dosage of 200 mg three times daily. It is recommended that Ipriflavone Plus be used in conjunction with Bone Jour!, Bone Guardian, or Cal/Mag Plus. Ipriflavone Plus includes magnesium and glycine because they are important in the metabolic processes for making bone and connective tissue.
