OMEGA PLUS is a unique essential fats formula, providing exceptionally well balanced omega-3 and omega-6 lipids plus mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols. This premier formula contains Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) (important usable forms of essential omega-3 lipids), gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) (an important essential omega-6 lipid), and mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols (Vitamin E). The EPA and DHA in OMEGA PLUS are in the form of triglycerides derived from marine lipids using a patented, flash molecular distillation process. The GLA is derived from cold-processed borage seed oil. Each batch of fish oil contained in this formula is tested and guaranteed to contain insignificant levels of heavy metals, PCBs, pesticides, and other organic contaminants. The mixed Tocotrienols and Tocopherols (forms of Vitamin E) are derived from rice bran oil. These forms of Vitamin E provide potent antioxidant protection within the body and for the polyunsaturated oils in the capsule.

NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS AND APPLICATIONS

Omega-3 and Omega-6 lipids play important roles in the formation of prostaglandins. The prostaglandins are cellular regulators that control inflammatory processes and pain in the body. Fish oils may be useful adjuncts in protocols that deal with: 1) Cardiovascular disease, 2) Hypertension, 3) Arthritis and other inflammatory disorders, 4) Psoriasis and other skin problems, 5) Diabetes mellitus, 6) Depression, and 7) Kidney disease. GLA may be a useful adjunct in protocols that deal with 1) Multiple Sclerosis and 2) Arthritis. Research indicates that there are synergistic effects between EPA, DHA, and GLA when they are in a balanced formula. It is known, for example, that EPA inhibits the conversion of GLA into the pro-inflammatory and pain-causing arachidonic acid. Because these fatty acids have many double bonds that are prone to oxidation both inside the bottle and within the body, this unique formula includes a broad range of Vitamin E in the forms of mixed tocotrienols and tocopherols. In addition, the forms of Vitamin E contained in this formula: 1) May reduce arterial plaques and enhance blood flow, 2) Act as potent inhibitors of platelet aggregation and thromboxane, 3) Protect serum lipids from oxidation, including LDL and HDL, 4) Reduce carotid stenosis (narrowing) and may help prevent stroke, 5) Serve as a trap to harmful nitrogenous radicals, 6) Act as anti-proliferative and anti-cancer agents, and 7) Provide powerful oxidative defense for the skin.
