NUTRITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS & APPLICATIONS: The glucosamines contained in Pathaid are derived from the chitin contained in the shells of shellfish. Glucosamines are rate-limiting substrates for the metabolic transformation to larger molecules that form glycosaminoglycans or "GAGs" (mucopolysaccharides) and proteoglycans. The principal known GAGs are hyaluronic acid, keratan sulfate, heparin, heparin sulfate, dermata sulfate, and chondroitin sulfate. Proteoglycans (large molecules built from GAGs) are most abundant in connective tissues, including cartilage, skin, blood vessel walls, sclera, cornea, intervertebral discs and tendons, as well as in the synovial fluid and the vitreous body. Pathaid contains all available glucosamines, enabling the body to select the forms that best meet its needs. The glucosamines contained in Pathaid are all extremely well-assimilated by the body. The effects of taking glucosamines usually are seen only after a period of 1-2 months at daily dosage levels of 1.5 to 3 grams.
