• PANTETHINE PLUS contains 150 mg of the highest-quality pantethine and 340 mg of pantothenic acid in a base of USP grade cellulose and silica.

• Pantethine is the stable disulfide form of pantetheine. Pantetheine is the biologically active form of pantothenic acid and the direct precursor to Coenzyme A (CoA). Coenzyme A is one of the most important substances in body metabolism, participating in metabolic functions, inclding synthesis of fatty acids, degradation of fatty acids, energy production, acetylation of choline (the major neurotransmitter in the body), synthesis of antibodies, utilization of nutrients, maintenance of blood sugar levels, synthesis of porphyrin (a heme precursor), metabolism of some minerals and trace elements, synthesis of steroid hormones, and detoxification of drugs.

• 600-1200 mg of pantethine daily can help individuals who have hyperlipidemias, including hypercholesterolemia. Pantethine has been shown to reduce tissue levels of acetaldehyde and may therefore be a useful adjunct in protocols for chronic candidiasis and alcoholism. Research indicates that the activity of aldehyde dehydrogenase may be increased by pantethine supplementation. This enzyme breaks down formaldehyde and pantethine, and thereby pantethine supplementation may help individuals who have formaldehyde sensitivity. Other research indicates that pantethine depletes cystine from cystinotic fibroblasts and therefore can be effective for treating cystinosis.
