Restless Leg Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS, also known as Willis-Ekbom disease) is a neurological disorder that manifests at night most often as a tingling sensation in the legs. The sensations of RLS are often compared to itching or tickling deep in the muscle tissue, like bugs crawling beneath the skin or an itch that can't be scratched. For sufferers, momentary relief comes from moving the affected limbs, but this leads to sleep that is sporadic and shallow. RLS is considered a "spectrum" disease in which some experience minor symptoms while others endure a major disruption of sleep that causes a serious deterioration in quality of life.
