The term ‘pH’ stands for ‘potential of hydrogen.’ It is a measure of acidity or alkalinity on a scale of 0 to 14, with 0 being very acidic and 14 being extremely alkaline. 7-7.4 is considered neutral. The human body tries to keep a tight range around neutral on the pH scale – between 6.8 (slightly acidic) and 7.4 (slightly alkaline). Your blood prefers to be slightly alkaline in order to nourish tissues, organs, and organ systems.
